UF’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences goal is to develop knowledge in agricultural, human, and natural resources, and to make that knowledge accessible to sustain and enhance the quality of human life.
With more than 2,000 faculty and staff, UF/IFAS leads the university’s land grant mission through a combination of research facilities, Florida’s Cooperative Extension service, and top-ranked education at the UF College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS).
At CALS, we are producing the next generation of biologists, communicators, doctors, attorneys, teachers, farmers, ranchers, and scientists. Our students learn from the top minds and best teachers in the field.
UF/IFAS research leads the way with more than $269 million in expenditures addressing critical problems in agricultural production and natural resource systems. Florida’s Agricultural Research Experiment Station comprises 12 centers and six demonstration sites across the state.
From 4-H to money management education, UF/IFAS Extension offers services and a UF presence in all 67 counties, making impacts via seven bold initiatives to support Floridians.
New initiatives include:
- A new Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture to speed innovation from research to the fields
- A therapeutic horticulture program to support students
- Workforce development Extension programs for youth and adults
